I have shared my initial 2018 WordCamp plan on this page. It starts with WordCamp Udaipur on January 27th.
Though it's kind of early, but I'm kind of certain Pathao is on track to become a Unicorn (Startup to reach $1 Billion valuations) in next 2-5 years, and possibly the first one from Bangladesh, and the sweet part it's entirely homegrown, and by serving just Bangladesh!
I have been slowly talking about my retirement plan for a while in the closed circle. But I have seen how most people felt confused about my plan. So I had to elaborate.
I was approached by Chris ‘Topher' DeRosia of HeroPress multiple times about writing my story, and ultimately I was able to complete, on the verge of my Birthday!
This is a very very large write-up, could be easily considered as (semi) autobiography. It describes my position and life clearly and I wanted to really share why we need to rethink the priorities of life and the value of family. You will be always busy, you will always have an important task, and crucial phase of life, ultimately this could become a trap. And it will never let you think what life could have mean, what you are probably missing, how you probably will never get back, the lost time with your close one.
But, its just my thought, story of my life, crafted in about 9000 words! I am grateful if you decide to read, I am delighted if it helps you somehow.
Research says both reading and writing is therapeutic!
I probably had a little bit of Writer's Block, but after writing this 3000+ Word piece I am free! In this article I have shared our WordCamp Europe experience, and did a detailed analysis how sponsoring such big event like this, is logical and worth the money and time for company like weDevs! It includes bunch of event photos as well.
Medium is easy, I like that. But when they went too far in trying to break the market by bribing brands and trying to brand in a way that its better solution than WordPress, thats when it was not this simple. Medium is a hosted solution, could be comparable to hosted WordPress like WordPress.com or many others, but not the WordPress solution. To grow their brand and portray themself as better content solution they started to bring big publisher, and there are numerous report how they bribed brands, if those brand move from WordPress! Now they are in odd situation. All the people they hired to sustain that growth, are now out of jobs, they fired 50 employees, and shutting down 2 offices. Ev Willams accepting that the main industry that they want to improve, they have not got full grasp of that, and feels, its time to stop that and look back.
Understanding you product placement, and not overdoing is very crucial.
MailChimp recorded $280 million in revenue in 2015 and is on track to top $400 million in 2016, but they never raised a single dime from Venture Capital, wholly owned by Mr. Chestnut and his co-founder, Dan Kurzius — now employs about 550 people, and by next year it will be close to 700.
Raising money in Silicon Valley style, and running it the way Venture Capitalist pushes mostly teaches you bad habits from the start, and you end up being too good at spending money, via Showing-Up and also targeting Un-Natural Growth.
You could surely ask, why anybody wants to install WordPress in a 12 years old $25 tiny router. But if you are crazy enough this article is an epic one. You don't even need MySQL, it usage SQLite in a USB Storage. This is surely one of the science project type experiment. But you could surely use this for other useable case to run WordPress under 64MB RAM.
Writing is very important. Its effective, it has long lasting effects. I hate phone call, as I find it's over-rated, it obviously has lots of use, but its counter productive in many case.
And now in the year 2016, its so easy to write. Write for yourself, take a piece of paper, open up a notes, or Evernote. If you are ready to write for others, start a blog, and WordPress make it very easy for anybody, does not even cost a dime to start.
A very interesting and super honest article by Jim Hamill at The Huffington Post about our city Dhaka, I read few days ago, but did not got time to share. If you are living in Dhaka or even never been to Dhaka all MUST READ it. I have always said Bangladesh is a very different place, (in good way), from anywhere in this planet. The writer did not have any idea, and no expectation from Dhaka. He wanted to see Dhaka, like raw, like in normal eyes. His 72 hours exploration is just amazing. Its funny how he described Rickshaw, Morog Polau, compares Sadar Ghat with Venice's Grand Canal (vaguely), talks about California Fried Chicken (CFC). So funny 😀
He was also very astonished not to see a single tourist in Dhaka City (note he is talking about tourist, not foreigner) in his 72hr in Dhaka. We need work on that, we need to create ecosystem to make ourself explorable to outsider. We need good stories, PR worldwide to let people know about our wealth.
