Cameron plans to make atleast 2 sequel of this great movie. But not so quick. Sam Worthington now confirmed we is signed to next 2 sequel also.

In 2006, Cameron stated that if Avatar were successful, he hoped to make two sequels to the film. In response to the film’s financial success, Cameron confirmed that there will be a sequel, although development and naming have not yet been discussed.
Cameron has stated that the story arc developed for Avatar is large enough to cover future film installments, something which he had planned from the start, going so far as to include certain scenes in the film because they led to the sequel. The first sequel would take place after the events of the first film, and would continue to follow the characters of Jake and Neytiri. Sam Worthington has signed on to reprise his role as Jake Sully in future sequels, and Stephen Lang, who played Colonel Miles Quaritch, believes his character could make a return: “You think those two arrows in my chest are going to stop me from coming back?” Lang told Entertainment Weekly, “Nothing’s over so long as they’ve got my DNA.

Today THR came right out and confirmed the whole mess by getting a comment from News Corp head honcho Rupert Murdoch who was quick to caution everyone not to “hold your breath for an early one.” Avatar 2 is coming, but it doesn’t look like it’s coming quickly.
But it’s not all bad news. The sequel is happening, we’re just not sure when. And while you wait, you’ll have Avatar on DVD to watch over and over and over again until your friends disavow you and your parents kick you out of their basement and we ban your IP address from their site because we’re sick of you spamming our comments section with Jake Sully fan fiction. In fact you’ll have it on DVD sooner rather than later.
Though Fox plans to keep Avatar running in theaters as long as possible, Murdoch says that once it’s out of theaters, the DVD should show up “soon after.” In particular they’re targeting a June 30 release date, though don’t hold your breath for 3D DVD. The technology for it just isn’t quite there yet. Besides, why release it in 3D DVD right off the bat when you can force people to buy the movie twice with two separate releases? Fox likes your money. It likes it even better when it gets it twice for the same movie.

Okay, now for the not so good parts. As others have stated, the storyline/plot is a little lacking. I had trouble understanding the motivations of many of the characters. Ah, yes, character development – that would have been nice, too. Don’t expect any. Yes, it’s a recycled and re-used plot: clichéd and often predictable. It seems reminiscent of many great classics, my favorite being “Star Wars.” Now I’ll be the first to admit that the mythical structure of “Star Wars” was not completely original, but at least it seemed Lucas “made it his own” (to quote American Idol?) with his original characters and unique setting. “Avatar” is practically plagiarism (one line in particular made me want to shout “THE FORCE!” in the middle of the movie). Also- we get practically no character background at all, so we have no idea what makes these people tick (perhaps there would have been more if the edited version wasn’t already a staggering 2 hrs 40 min.). Instead, we get one-dimensional, stock characters that had me rolling my eyes underneath my uncomfortable and overpriced 3D glasses. Lastly, the film is doused with lessons in morality from Mr. Cameron; it is a blatant criticism of US foreign policy. Not everyone will pick up on this, which I understand, since most of us want mindless entertainment at the movies. But upon closer review, I don’t see how some people cannot see it. One of the “evil” characters actually says: “We’ll fight terror with terror!” (Though mind you, they are attacking a planet filled with peaceful inhabitants who have never attacked them, for the simple quest of obtaining a precious metal called…unobtainium…::rolls eyes again::) Now I don’t mind a little political satire here and there, but it seems misplaced in what is seemingly intended as a mindlessly entertaining popcorn flick.

Заметила странную тенденцию. Как только наступает весна,настоящая такая весна, с тёплым солнышком, щебетаньем птичек и началом расцвета природы, немалое количество моих друзей и знакомых впадают в депрессию. Самое настоящее весеннее обострение у многих, причём как у парней, так и у девушек. Как это объяснить?
Ведь, всё располагает к обратному, чтобы гулять, веселиться и влюбляться!!!
